Energy for Others®
is now
Sempra Employee Giving Network
Effective August 2008, Energy for Others® has
been renamed to the Sempra Employee Giving Network.
And a new logo, identity and Web site, and Web site updates,
will follow during the next few weeks.
The organization is still the same 501(c)(3) nonprofit public-benefit
charitable corporation formed in July 2002 to facilitate support of
community-based charitable groups by employees of the Sempra Energy family, but
with a stronger name, which represents what the organization really does.
Its
predecessor programs, before 2002, included two very successful, individual company
efforts: the SDG&E Contrib Club and
SoCalGas' G.A.S. Works program.
As part of
the Sempra Energy Giving Network employee-giving program, employees
can either designate their contributions to the groups of their choice
and/or they can donate directly to their local Sempra Energy Giving Network'
fund. One hundred percent of all contributions made by employees are directed
to their charities of choice.
A board of directors provides governance.
It's made up of people from a number of Sempra
Energy companies. Councils made up of local advisers
have also been
set up to review and provide input on requests submitted for funding.
Since it began, more than $500,000 has been raised each year and donated to charities in
communities where employees work and live.
